Gene Therapy for Depression Experiment

How in the hell do you tell if a mouse is depressed or not? I think somebody is boosting their resume for future grants

Well, if the mouse is listless, drags his tail, and has lost interest in his little wheel, he MAY be exhibiting signs of Mouse Affective Disorder (M.A.D.).

Actually though, they genetically manipulate the mouse so that serotonin reuptake is affected. Here is what Wikipedia has to say on the topic:

Mostly, I can't get past the visual of cages of depressed mice sitting around moping.
